Martin Petras hat einen Abschluss der Ecole Hôtelière de Lausanne und verfügt über breite Erfahrung innerhalb der Hotelleriebranche. Später absolvierte er an den Universitäten Fribourg und Zürich Studien der deutschen und slawischen Sprach- und Literaturwissenschaften sowie der Kulturanalyse. Er war tätig als Redaktor innerhalb der Fachpresse für Tourismus, Hotellerie, Gastronomie sowie Wein. Martin Petras lebt und arbeitet in Stäfa am Zürichsee als freier Autor und Journalist vorwiegend für Fachmagazine und Buchprojekte zu Themen rund um Gastronomie und Wein. Seit Jahren beschäftigt er sich mit geschichtlichen, kulturellen und soziologischen Aspekten der Tafelkultur sowie Ernährung.

 
Martin Petras, born in 1955 has a degree from the Lausanne Hotel School and acquired a vast experience in the field of hotel industry. Later, he graduated from the Universities of Fribourg and Zurich in German and Slavic Languages and Literatures as well as Cultural Analysis. He worked as an editor for specialized newspapers and magazines in the field of tourism, hospitality, gastronomy and wine. Martin Petras lives and works in Stäfa on the lake of Zurich as an author and journalist mainly for specialized press and publications focusing on culinary and wine subjects. In recent years he has become engaged in studies on historical, cultural and sociological aspects of cooking, eating and drinking.
